So there I was sitting in the hot tub at the gym after swimming. It was crowded but I managed to squeeze in right in front of a jet. When I opened my eyes the crowd had gone except for a woman right next to me who said something and I said something and before long I knew that she was getting over a cold, had worked for the phone company, and had been married for 42 years. It wasn’t what I had in mind when I sat down and I was about to head for the shower when she said, “You know what my trouble is?, I don’t dream anymore.” After that, I couldn’t leave anymore.
I shared with her about visioning… picturing yourself as far out in the future as you can in the most perfect setting you can think of… I mean it is your vision, right? Who can tell you what it should or shouldn’t be. Then as life proceeds you can decide at any fork in the road which way should lead closer to what you are visioning. Will your life end up exactly as you want it? Maybe… and maybe not. But at least there is a better chance of reaching the top of the mountain if you know that’s where you’re heading.
By the time I left she had decided to see about volunteering at a nearby senior center and telling her husband to move his motorcycle in the garage from behind the car so she could take off any time she wanted without having to involve him. And I knew what I was going to write in today’s post… which you just read. Amazing how things work.
